Where is the Lake District? It is in the north west of England just below Scotland. It falls entirely within the boundaries of the county of Cumbria. Visitors to The Lake District find themselves within easy reach of Scotland,Yorkshire and Lancashire. The South Lakes is just over an hour from Manchester and Liverpool by road making the area an ideal base for hopping to other areas in the north. The Lake District is just over an hour and a half away from Manchester and Liverpool airports. Regular train services run to Oxenholme Station which is the gateway to The Lakes for the rail network. A connection from Oxenholme takes passengers to Kendal, Staveley and Windermere from which the rest of the region is easily accessed. For more information see the travel page. |
