The weather is part
of what makes The Lake District what it is! Only a fool would predict
the weather long term here. Never likely to ruin a trip since there are
so many things to do, the region is well set up to entertain its' visitors
come rain or shine. Outline for the year January - March tend to be the coldest months with a high likelihood of snow of the fell tops. It is common for temperatures to be close to freezing rising no higher than 10 degrees in the coldest periods. April and May tend to be much warmer and visitor may enjoy prolonged sunny periods. June, July and August (the summer months) offer the most likely period for dry weather but invariably it will rain at some stage during any stay! Temperatures in Summer months range between 20 and 30 degrees centigrade at sea level. September and October are when Autumn is in full swing, The region is particularly attractive with vivid autumnal colours surrounding the Lakes. November and December can be particularly rainy though this varies from one year to the next. Good local weather forecasting is available at tourist information centres daily. Often pubs and hotels also make forecasts available. |
